The Woodlands Cars & Coffee for a Cause

☆Welcome to the Event Page for The Woodlands Cars & Coffee for a Cause. The 2021 Charitable Recipients for the Change for Charity Program @ Market Street/Presented by: Woodlands Performance & Suspension. 1st Sunday of every month, from 6:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. And for the month of December, we will also hold our annual Toy Drive, that will benefit the Montgomery County Women’s Center.

📌The purpose behind this event is to provide a morning gathering to show off special vehicles, be a supportive partner w/Market Street & the local community, share information about needful non-profit organizations in Montgomery County, & to give back monetarily as well. We will be collecting coins/change, or ANY monetary amount for our donation to the Market Street “Change for Charities” program that will benefit 4 new non-profit organizations in Montgomery County each year. With contributions from area auto enthusiasts & local businesses & residents, we have collected & donated over $75,000 to over 50 local charities from this event since 2009.

⭐️The four recipients for 2021: 1st Qrtr: Leukemia & Lymphoma Society: “The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the world’s largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer. The LLS mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. LLS funds lifesaving blood cancer research around the world and provides free information and support services. Since 1949, we’ve invested nearly $1.3 billion in groundbreaking research, pioneering many of today’s most innovative approaches. We work tirelessly to find cures and ensure patients can access the lifesaving treatments they need. When someone experiences the fear and uncertainty of a cancer diagnosis, we provide hope, compassion, education and support. And we are making an impact in the cancer community”. https://www.lls.org/

⭐️2nd Qrtr: National Alliance on Mental Illness. The mission of NAMI Greater Houston is to improve the lives of all persons affected by mental illness through support, education and advocacy based programs and services.
Specifically, NAMI Greater Houston provides FREE education programs, peer facilitated support groups and grassroots advocacy initiatives that enable families and consumers to better understand the complexities and challenges of living with a mental illness and in doing so, become more effective self-advocates.
NAMI Greater Houston vigorously promotes the development of community mental health programs and services, improved access to services, increased opportunities for recovery, reduced stigma and discrimination and increased public understanding of mental illness. With the opening of our new peer-run resource center – the S.E.A. (Support, Education and Advocacy) Center, families and consumers can access the help they need. https://namigreaterhouston.org/about-nami-greater-houston/

⭐️3rd Qrtr: Assistance League, whose programs help strengthen communities and transform lives of children and adults. Our main source of income is our award-winning Thrift Shop. If you have not shopped with us, please come by! We pride ourselves on the quality of merchandise from clothing (men, women, and children), housewares, linens, decorative items, etc. This merchandise is generously donated to our shop by community members. Operation School Bell®, the signature program of National Assistance League, was started in 1988. That year 33 students were provided with new clothing to start school. Since then, over 60,000 students have received new school clothing. All six school districts in Montgomery County are invited to participate by referrals from the counselors.

Poison Information – Always Ask™ was also started in 1988. Through it, Assistance League of Montgomery County continues to tell a story educating students in Montgomery County preschools and kindergartens throughout the county about poisonous substances.

Other programs include Assault Survivor Kits®, since 1994, which provides comfort kits to assault and trauma survivors in county hospitals. In 1997, two new programs were formed. Fans for Friends provides fans or blankets to local agencies that serve the economically disadvantaged, and Passport for Good Health™ provides health record booklets to mothers of newborns and seniors.

Scholarship is the second largest program. Since 2006, scholarships have been awarded to high school seniors, adults returning to education, and mentally- or physically-challenged individuals for therapeutic programs. Tender Loving Care Dolls, started in 2006, provides therapy dolls to counselors. In 2010, Pass It On was begun to provide a way to allow agencies to benefit from unsold merchandise. Caring and Sharing, begun in 2013, provides Welcome Home baskets and basic needs items for residents moving from homelessness into a home for the first time, as well as many other services. We have only just begun to make the difference we want to make in the lives of the residents of our community. There remain more students to clothe, more families to feed, and more students who need help to further their education and better provide for themselves and their families. As in its beginnings in 1985, the now 240+ all-volunteer organization continues to transform lives and strengthen community in Montgomery County. https://www.assistanceleague.org/montgomery-county/

YES to YOUTH – Montgomery County Youth Services strengthens the emotional and mental health development of youth and families by providing crisis intervention, counseling, and suicide prevention services. 📌All “show” vehicles for display will be asked to enter by the entrance where Starbucks is located. At that time, you will be asked to sign in, your donation of any amount you wish will be collected, and then you will be assisted to park. NO vehicle entry before 6:30 a.m.

📌Although this event is presented by WPS & includes TWCC volunteers, area enthusiasts are invited on a first-come, first-serve basis. WPS/TWCC has been invited to partner w/Market Street to assist with their Change for Charity program. We appreciate your cooperation and support in making this event safe and successful.
☆We will make our donation/presentation to one charity per quarter, along with the donation from Market Street’s collection from the parking meters. It’s a win-win for everyone! “Using Our Cars to Give Back to Our Community”! ~Dana 🙂
